Steve Bisson

Steve Bisson is an Italo-Belgian publisher, art director, curator, working mainly in the field of visual and literary anthropology.

Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning from the Istituto Universitario di Architettura – IUAV of Venice, Italy (2002), and an MBA from Kansas University, USA (2004).

Work History
Steve has collaborated worldwide with artists, companies, museums, foundations, and galleries and contributed to several exhibitions and festivals to support young talents, enhance lifelong learning, and boost debate and awareness on human conditions across the world. Steve founded in 2009 the Urbanautica online publishing platform, which focuses on the new territories of the image. In 2012 he started Filmessay, a production Co. In 2016, co-founded Blurring the Lines, with the chair of photography Klaus Fruchtnis, an academic network that fosters talent and dialogue in the visual realm. Since 2017 he is the co-director with Professor Andre Fratti Costa (FAAP, São Paulo) of ‘Move Cine Arte,’ a Brazilian itinerant festival of films on art and architecture. From 2019 he is the art director of ‘Ragusa FotoFestival’ in Sicily Italy.

IUAV, Ca’ Foscari and IED in Venice, Domus Academy Milan, FAAP and Universidade das Belas Artes in Sao Paulo among others.

Director of Urbanautica Books and founder of Penisola Edizioni. His essays and reviews appeared in many books, studies, magazines, and websites. In 2016 he was invited to curate a photography exhibition for the Italian Pavillion of Biennale di Architettura in Venice.
