Thu-van Tran

Born in 1979 in Vietnam, the artist lives and works in France.

Her work has been caracterised by literature, architecture and history. Her birth country, Vietnam – a former French colony – and her homeland France bring her to think and work with duality, inequality and instability as structural elements of her practice.
Her work takes form of semantic or sculptural compositions that are placed in contemplative and discursive fields.

She has exhibited at Meessen De Clercq, Brussels (Belgium), Centre Pompidou, Paris (France), La Maison Rouge, Paris (France), at TANAS, Berlin (Germany),  the Centre d’Art Villa du Parc, Annemasse (France), L’Espace, Hanoi (Vietnam), Musée des Beaux-Arts de Mulhouse, (France) and in Kimusa, Seoul (South Korea).
In 2016 Tran has been showing a solo exhibition at les Abattoirs, FRAC Midi-Pyrénées, Toulouse (France), besides having had her first solo exhibition in Germany at the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, Berlin (Germany) and a solo exhibition at the Macleay Museum in Sydney (Australia). She is currently preparing an exhibition at Ladera Oeste, Guadalajara (Mexico) and at the Kunsthalle Sao Paulo in Brazil, which will take place in 2017.
